Now auditioning students for the 2010-2011 season. We welcome musicians to audition for the following ensembles:
- Solo piece of 2-3 minutes in length (need not be memorized) showing your level of technique and musicianship
- 1 to 3 octave Major scale (1 octave for Overture, 2 octaves for Prelude or Wind Ensemble, 3 octave Major scale for Symphonic Orchestra)

Your audition will determine the level of ensemble you are ready for:
Symphonic Orchestra - PYO's advanced group performs complete works for full symphony. The conductor is PYO's Music Director, Dr. Linda Shea, well known as a professional clarinetist and conductor. This group is for serious students of an orchestral instrument.
Wind Ensemble - Woodwind and brass students perform pieces written specifically for large and small wind ensembles. These students will also make up the wind section of the Symphonic Orchestra. James Divine is the director of the Wind Ensemble.
Prelude Strings - Our intermediate level string program is appropriate for middle school students of the violin, viola, cello or string bass. Students perform varied and challenging repertoire and are conducted by our very own Laurie Gabriel.
Overture Strings - PYO is pleased to announce this new program to give students a foundation in the orchestra experience and build the skills of budding musicians. Conducted by Laurie Gabriel, this group is perfect for a student who plays violin, viola, cello or string bass and has a year or more experience.
